2020 was a big year for BioTechNZ with the delivery of MedCan 2020, the creation of the biotech ecosystem map, New Zealand Life Sciences Key Opinion Leaders and publishing of the report AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND BOOSTED BY BIOTECH – Innovating for a sustainable future.
2021 will be further building on this work. The first part of the BioTechNZ strategic plan is to continue to grow the ecosystem. One of the ways to do this is through member connect events.
The Tech Alliance put on 200 member events and webinars across 2019/2020, and we are now in the process of creating a calendar where all events will be found in one place.
BioTechNZ will be running eight member connect events from now until November. These are planned to be physical meetup events, which are free for members (paid for non-members), and hosted/catered by a member, with panels or speakers. Where possible, these connect events will be held in collaboration with another association.
The events plan for 2021
- six member inform events – webinar events for members, providing information via a speaker or panel discussion (e.g. from Government agencies, investors and other members)
- one major member CEO dinner – bringing together the CEO contacts of our larger members and key stakeholders over a dinner with a minister
- one annual (AGM) event – webinar to announce the new Executive Council members and review the year
THE ASK:
If you are interested in sponsoring a member connect event (providing a venue, speaker ideas or catering) or have content for an member inform event please contact info@biotechnz.org.nz. Please note we require our sponsors and speakers to be a BioTechNZ member for 2021.
First member connect for 2021 – Building on our Dunedin Biotech Ecosystem
It goes without saying that the basis of each biotech company should always be built on world-class innovation.
But that is just the beginning. In order to develop a scientific discovery into a life-changing drug, we need products or services along with talents and specialists from all kinds of fields to be involved. These can include academia, research and development facilities, regulatory, biotech lawyers and intellectual property law firms, as well as business development, commercial and financial experts, and access to smart capital and partners.
This sort of ecosystem is extremely hard to find! But Dunedin is one place that has successfully achieved this and now boasts one of the strongest biotech ecosystems throughout the country.
Find out more about what makes this region successful at this upcoming networking event! NOTE: To help accommodate community participation, attendees can also join the event digitally.
