Be part of the community advancing biotechnology for Aotearoa’s future

Biotechnology has the power to transform how we live — improving human health, revolutionising agriculture, protecting our environment, and building a stronger, more productive economy. BioTech brings together the people, organisations, and ideas that make this possible in Aotearoa New Zealand.

With 119 member organisations spanning the full life sciences spectrum — from startups and SMEs to global majors, Crown Research Institutes, universities, and government agencies — BioTech is New Zealand’s most connected biotechnology community. As part of Tech New Zealand, our reach extends across 16 communities and thousands of organisations nationwide.

Membership is not just access — it’s belonging to the centre of Aotearoa’s biotechnology community.

Why become a member of BioTech New Zealand?

1. Help shape the future of biotechnology in Aotearoa — BioTech engages directly with government across all parties through quarterly Minister Biotech Briefings, contributes to gene technology regulatory reform, and advocates for clinical trials investment. As a member, your expertise helps shape the policy and investment settings that determine how biotech grows in New Zealand.

2. Stay ahead through insight and connection — Access the latest sector intelligence, research, and global trends through BioTech’s reports, resources, and events. With delegations to BIO USA and AusBiotech and a direct line to international networks, you’ll be connected to the conversations shaping the future of life sciences worldwide.

3. Build capability and grow your organisation — Whether you’re a startup finding your feet or an established company looking to scale, BioTech membership opens doors — to investors, partners, mentors, and markets. Our networks and programmes are designed to help you grow.

4. Connect with the people who matter — From the Biotech Leaders Forum (bringing together 5+ chief executives) and specialist working groups in clinical trials and agri-bio, to the flagship Life Sciences Summit and Welly Biotech ‘n’ Beers, BioTech creates the moments where relationships are built, ideas are shared, and collaboration happens.

5. Demonstrate leadership in responsible biotech innovation — BioTech members share a commitment to responsible, evidence-based innovation. By joining, you signal your organisation’s role as a trusted leader in Aotearoa’s biotech community — and your commitment to a thriving bioeconomy that benefits all New Zealanders.
