BioTechNZ and AgriTechNZ have joined forces to bring you and afternoon of presentations on:
Cellular agriculture — industrial biotechnology for food, cosmetics and materials
Fundamental changes of agriculture and food production are inevitable. Providing healthy diets and environmental sustainability food for an increasing population will be a great challenge that coincides with the pressure to reduce negative environmental impacts of conventional agriculture.
- Cultured meat is a promising technology for animal-based proteins but still needs further development.
- The concept of plant cells as food offers a very attractive alternative to obtain healthy, protein-rich and nutritionally balanced food raw material.
- Cultured microbes can be processed into a wide range of biosynthetic materials.
Globally the cultured meat market 2020-2024 and it is poised to grow by USD 200.21 million during 2020-2024, and more recently there has been an interest in cellular products to not just be used for food but cosmetics and materials.
